Liverpool agree £60 million deal for 19-year-old Chelsea target

Liverpool agree £60 million fee with Southampton for Chelsea target Romeo Lavia

Southampton have accepted a £60 million proposal from Liverpool for Chelsea target Romeo Lavia this summer, according to The Guardian.

However, while the Reds have come to a consensus with the Saints, they still have to convince the midfielder to join them in the ongoing transfer window. The Blues are also in pursuit of his signature at the moment.

As things stand, the Stamford Bridge side have already beaten the Merseyside outfit in the race for Brighton & Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo. The Ecuadorian is set to undergo a medical before completing a £115 million move to the West London club.

Chelsea are now looking to bolster their engine room further with the addition of Lavia. Even though Liverpool have made headway in their attempt to land the midfielder, he is keen on a move to the Blues.

It remains to be seen whether the Stamford Bridge side will once again be able to get the better of Jurgen Klopp’s team. The Belgium international is a promising talent with a bright future.

Lavia signed for Southampton last summer from Manchester City. Subsequently, the 19-year-old became a pivotal player for the Saints. However, despite his impressive displays, the Hampshire-based club were relegated to the Championship last season.

Chelsea started with Conor Gallagher and Enzo Fernandez in the engine room in the first game of the season against Liverpool. The Blues were on top of the Reds for most of the game but only came away with a 1-1 draw.

Unfortunately, on the bench against the Reds, we did not have a lot of options on the bench. Even with the potential arrival of Caicedo, we will evidently need to bolster the middle of the park further.

Therefore, getting a hold of Lavia as well will arguably be a big boost for us. It remains to be seen where the Belgian’s future lies in the coming weeks.
