“Won’t handle the pressure”- Pundit warns Pochettino of Chelsea stars who could wilt under pressure

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink alerts Mauricio Pochettino that several Chelsea players won’t live up to expectations

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has already sent a warning to Mauricio Pochettino that several Chelsea players could fail to live up to expectations in what has been a busy summer transfer window in west London.

The Blues’ massive spending has continued in the ongoing summer transfer window, which saw the West Londoners fork out £350 million in the current window. Besides spending, they also made a healthy sale after cutting down their bloated squad of the past season, which saw many first-team players leave the club.

However, their spending hasn’t seen positive results on the pitch as of yet. Chelsea are yet to secure a victory under Mauricio Pochettino after a 1-1 draw with Liverpool and a 3-1 defeat to West Ham United in their opening two Premier League games this season.

Now former Chelsea striker Hasselbaink feels defeat to West Ham has put pressure on Pochettino. He feels the Argentine needs to add more balance to his yet over bloated squad. According to The Express as he said:

“You will see some of them will make it and be able to handle it, but some, as always is the case, won’t handle the pressure. That is the nature of the beast. I do think Chelsea have done really well with a lot of young players. The most important thing now is to trim the squad because there are still a lot of players. Then mould it, and everyone can get to know each other.”

Hasselbaink has made a point that not every player will be able to handle the strain because the majority of the players we signed were young and inexperienced. They will need time to get accustomed to the Premier League’s high expectations and only a select few players have been able to cope with it on a consistent basis.

If we want quick results, the team should also concentrate on bringing in proven players like Christoper Nkunku, who can make an impact right away and won’t need much time to adjust. We now have an excessive number of young players, and some of them could go out on loan, so it appears that the squad still needs to be whittled down before we can field a well-balanced side this year.
