A View From The Bridge

Everton and Nottingham Forest join Fulham in the race to sign 22-year-old Chelsea outcast

Fulham face competition from Nottingham Forest and Everton for Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi

According to a report on Evening Standard, Nottingham Forest and Everton are ready to give Fulham the competition in the race to sign Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The Chelsea Academy product is desperate to kickstart his career by leaving the club this summer. He has already agreed personal terms with Fulham over a move. But, the Cottagers are not willing to pay the £8m transfer fee demanded by the Blues.

With this deal dragging into the final week of this transfer window, Everton and Forest are close to joining the race for the 22-year-old. It remains to be seen if either of the two clubs will make a concrete offer.

We know that Chelsea are interested in signing Forest forward Brennan Johnson before the deadline. While there have been reports that the Blues will use Andrey Santos as the makeweight to sign the Welsh international, can there be a case made to include Hudson-Odoi? Only if Forest show proper interest in the latter.

It is a bit of a shame that the 22-year-old’s future is still undecided and we are well underway in the season. He is a fantastic talent who had a rough time on loan at Bayer Leverkusen last time around after struggling to get regular game time at Stamford Bridge.

Let’s hope he finalises a move to either of the clubs very soon. At 22, the winger has not lost much time to resurrect his career and potentially play for an elite club in the coming years.

There was a reason why Bayern Munich wanted to sign him a couple of years ago. The talent is there. It just needs proper harnessing by a coach that believes in the player.
