“Come down already’’- Former Cobham starlet jokes about Chelsea breaking his short-lived transfer record

Declan Rice opens up on Chelsea making Moises Caicedo the most expensive transfer in British history

Declan Rice, who became the most expensive transfer in British history, joked about how he already lost his spot as the costliest player to Moises Caicedo after Chelsea spent £115 million to sign the Ecuadorian midfielder.

Arsenal, who signed the former West Ham United midfielder for £105 million earlier in the summer, made him the most expensive British midfielder in transfer history surpassing Jack Grealish. Rice’s record, however, did not even last the window.

Meanwhile, the Blues, who already spent £107 million on Enzo Fernandez, once again splashed extravagant money to sign Moises Caicedo as they outbid Liverpool to acquire the midfielder for £115 million.

Rice is already making waves at Arsenal and didn’t take time to adjust to Mikel Arteta’s approach, while Caicedo had a debut to forget against the Hammers. Surely the Chelsea man will get more used to their surroundings in the coming months and years.

Caicedo was brought in in the second half and took some time to acclimatise to the action. The worst was still to come when he fouled a West Ham player, earning them a penalty that allowed them to make it 3-1 in stoppage time.

Meanwhile, Rice displayed another match-winning performance in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace. When asked if Caicedo has surpassed his price tag, (h/t Metro) the England midfielder said:

‘’I had it up on the wall for two weeks! It’s come down already!’’

Both players excel in the defensive midfield area, a position that requires highly skill and the ability to read the game. Both Arsenal and Chelsea had a need for a defensive midfielder, so they had to overspend to sign Rice and Caicedo, respectively.

While the 21-year-old from Ecuador had one of the worst debuts, the 24-year-old had outstanding games in Arsenal last two wins. But we are confident in Caicedo’s ability to bounce back because we did not pay £115 million for him.

No matter how many games it takes, once Caicedo finds his rhythm, he will transform our midfield and make it seamless. It won’t be long until the Blues start to dominate.
