Chelsea won’t stop Kepa Arrizabalaga if he wants to leave for Bayern Munich
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are prepared to sell Kepa Arrizabalaga amidst interest from Bayern Munich. The German champions are keen on signing him after Thomas Tuchel personally asked the club to start talks with the Blues.
The German side is looking to find an alternative to Yann Sommer, who joined Inter Milan while Manuel Neuer is still recovering after breaking his leg last season. Kepa has so far struggled to impress in Blue and a parting of the ways would be the best decision for all sides.
Bayern were keen on signing David Raya from Brentford, but the player is now on his way to Arsenal. The Bavarians are keeping their eyes on Kepa to sign him on loan with an option to buy.
If the deal goes through, the 28-year-old goalkeeper will be reunited with former Chelsea boss Tuchel, who preferred Edouard Mendy over him during his at Chelsea. Kepa was bought from Athletic Bilbao for a world record signing but has so far remained inconsistent to maintain his spot between the sticks at Chelsea.
The Spaniard may find it difficult to maintain his first-choice status at Chelsea now that Robert Sanchez has been brought in. He is still in his prime and given the lack of opportunities taken at Chelsea, a new challenge could evoke his best.
Sending him on loan is pointless unless the obligation to buy is made mandatory. It makes little sense for us to loan him out when his future at the club is less than secure. It is time for Chelsea to cash in now and hand the reins to Sanchez heading into the 2023/24 season.

Kepa’s Chelsea career has had an unstable start, but perhaps a change in the competition can help him find his stride again. Given that he is 28 years old and has the potential to develop into a top-notch custodian, Tuchel can help him regain his confidence.
