Chelsea staff members are becoming concerned with the club’s rapid sale of academy players, which has seen the exit of Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
According to the Daily Mail, (h/t Express), the staff raised alarms after the Blues allowed Mount to join Manchester United and, more recently, Lewis Hall to join Newcastle United.
They could now look to block Conor Gallagher’s potential move away from the Blues. Chelsea are open to offloading the England international, and the decision might be unaccepted by the youth staff at Cobham.
The midfielder has attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace. Chelsea value him at around £50 million but have yet to receive any bid for him this summer transfer window.
But his exit will see the club make a great profit. Another Cobham graduate, Trevoh Chalobah, has been on Bayern Munich’s radar and has been seen as surplus to requirements by the club.
Under new owner Todd Boehly, the club has spent plenty on academy players, which has seen the expenditure reach £900 million in three transfer windows. The Blues have sold many of their homegrown players since they cost nothing to sign, but their selling has been considered profitable.
If we are earning a big profit, it makes sense to sell academy players, especially those who wont have a big role to play. On the other hand, Mount wanted to leave Chelsea, but the Blues were eager to keep the midfielder. His reluctance to pen a new deal put us in a difficult situation indeed.
Hall’s departure, though, would be viewed as disappointing given that Newcastle have an obligation to buy the left-back. Hopefully, we wont come to regret the decision in the future.
It would be preferable for the 23-year-old Gallagher to play for another team rather than squander his career sitting on the bench at Chelsea. There shouldn’t be many issues because we made smart transfers and generated a good profit, we also signed talented players such as Moises Caicedo, Nicolas Jackson, and numerous others.
Chelsea have received an alarming news on their signing Kendry Paez who is likely to join the club next year.
According to a Brazilian news outlet UOL, Chelsea are trying to sign the young Brazilian JP Chermont from Santos.
