Chelsea are accelerating their pursuit of Tyler Adams as they prepare to activate his release clause

According to Daily Mail, Chelsea are ramping up their signing of Tyler Adams as they are now looking to trigger the midfielder’s release clause.

Chelsea are looking to add more experience to their midfield and find Adams as an ideal candidate from Leeds United. They are now planning to activate his £20 million clause.

However, the West Londoners will have to be swift, as Aston Villa have also joined them in the race to sign the midfielder, with the 24-year-old leaning towards a move to Stamford Bridge.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are confident of signing the USMNT midfielder before their game against Liverpool. In Adams, we will have a solid defensive midfielder with Premier League experience, considering he had a full season with the Whites before their relegation in May.

Meanwhile, the Blues continue their pursuit of Moises Caicedo, despite their bids getting constantly rejected by Brighton & Hove Albion. There is an obvious air of desperation about our midfield search because we only have Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher as experienced first-team midfielders right now.

Chelsea recently signed Roberts Sanchez from Brighton, who will compete with Kepa Arrizabalaga for the No. 1 spot and should now focus their entire attention to strengthening the middle of the park. It should be the utmost priority.

Adams appears to be a good backup option if we cannot recruit Caicedo from Brighton, considering he is a smart defensive midfielder who specialises in making blocks, tackles and interceptions. He was also important for Leeds United last season, making 24 appearances before suffering an injury in the last month of the season.

Even if we sign him, we should keep pursuing Caicedo since he is an ideal component who can modify the midfield dynamics immediately, while Adams could take Caicedo’s place as a substitute or even as a partner in a double pivot if and when Enzo Fernandez isn’t available.

Given Leeds are in the Championship, Adams would hopefully want to return to playing in the top flight, and what better place to come to than Stamford Bridge for that?
