Long-term Chelsea transfer target set to sign eight year contract at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea set another British transfer record after agreeing deal for Moises Caicedo

Chelsea have finally signed their top transfer target Moises Caicedo for a British transfer record of £115 million from Brighton & Hove Albion. The 21-year-old will sign an either-year contract and will undergo a medical on Monday.

According to Athletic, (h/t Metro) Caicedo will complete his medical on Monday, and the transfer will be finalised on that same day, which will see the midfielder sign a long-term contract. The Ecuadorian has the potential to be a gamechanger for the Blues.

The 21-year-old signing will make him the most expensive signing in Premier League history, surpassing the likes of Declan Rice and Enzo Fernandez. The pressure will be on Caicedo to prove his worth in the coming years.

However, his signing comes after a chaotic transfer battle between Liverpool and Chelsea, as the Reds offered £111 million to Brighton & Hove Albion and reached an agreement with them. Thankfully, our efforts have seen us get over the line.

Despite this, the midfielder had second thoughts about joining Liverpool, and hopefully that commitment will endure in a Blue jersey. This will be Chelsea’s third massive signing after they acquired Fernandez and Mykhaylo Mudryk for a huge sum.

The Ecuadorian midfielder will be hoping to finish his medical and join Chelsea for their training as they will next face West Ham United on August 20. The sooner the deal is sealed, the quicker we can put the saga to rest.

We appeared to have lost Caicedo but thankfully Todd Boehly has pulled through. Being trumped to a priority target would have been a difficult pill for us to swallow. However, his preference for joining us was a major factor in Chelsea’s continued motivation to sign him, and we now have the final laugh.

Caicedo will be one of our most valuable additions since he will add dimension to our midfield and increase our team’s resilience. We were fortunate that he opted for us over Liverpool in the midst of a fairly hectic transfer war, and we hope he won’t rue it as we seek to end this season inside the top four and pursue titles.
