Chelsea won’t make a swap deal happen between Romelu Lukaku and Dusan Vlahovic because of the difference in price valuation with Juventus
As per an X thread from Italian correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea are not interested in a swap deal between Romelu Lukaku and Dusan Vlahovic anymore due to the difference in price valuation with Juventus.
If we go into the details, Chelsea offered €20m + €5m in add-ons + Lukaku to Juventus in return for Vlahovic. The Old Lady responded with their demands of a €40m fee.
This is a classic case of either/or. Either Juventus think Vlahovic should be priced higher as per the current market trend, or they want Lukaku at a lower price because the Belgian is surplus to requirements at Chelsea.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has updated us with the news that Chelsea are now working towards making Lukaku leave as soon as possible. The former Inter Milan striker may either go to Europe before the August deadline or sign for a club in Saudi Arabia in September.
While Chelsea are doing well to not bow down to Juventus’ demands, are they in a position to let go of a striker like Vlahovic ahead of the start of the season? Probably not.
Even if Christopher Nkunku was fit (he is out till December by the way), the Blues needed another number nine to take up a regular starting position in the team with Nicolas Jackson operating as a backup.
If the club misses out on Vlahovic and pins their hopes on Jackson scoring the goals with no Nkunku behind, it can be termed as a stupid strategy.

Let’s remember that Chelsea scored 38 goals from 38 league games last season. Two of the three relegated teams scored more than that. Expecting that problem to be solved by a young striker who has only played one season of senior-level football is insane. Mauricio Pochettino would hope he gets backed to bolster this department along with the midfield.
