“Every single competition” – Mauricio Pochettino keen to win it all at Chelsea

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino hopes to win the Premier League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup this season

Mauricio Pochettino has already given assurance to Chelsea fans and has revealed his hopes of winning the Premier League, Carabao Cup, and FA Cup this season.

Pochettino will oversee his first cup competition as the Blues manager as they open their Carabao Cup tournament against AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday night. It is a favourable tie for the Argentine tactician to test his tactics and prepare for bigger challenges.

The former Tottenham Hotspur head coach wants to turn Chelsea into a competitive side this season after the Blues finished 12th in the previous campaign. The Blues have remained among the most active clubs in the summer window, and the pressure will be high to deliver in every competition.

Now the Argentine manager has told fans that he doesn’t want to prioritise only one trophy and aims to win a lot of silverware this season. (h/t BBC) He further said:

“I want to win the Carabao Cup, I want to win the FA Cup, I want to win the Premier League, and then we’ll see what happens after. I want to win every single competition because I get older. I want to win. I cannot wait and think that this season the only focus is this, and then this season the focus is on that. [There is no time to waste; it is about wanting to win, and that is the idea I want to get into the players and staff.”

While ambition is good, we need to make sure the ambition is also shown on the field. Unless the players showcase the same fight and harbour similar aims, it will count for little. After all, there is only so much Pochettino can do from the sidelines.

We need each player to have this kind of confidence this year, and we have Pochettino to instil the same mindset in them. This season, every Chelsea player should strive to win every title they can. We definitely have an extremely talented team, and once they begin to function together effectively, we will be competing with the top teams in the league this season.

We made significant investments this summer; let’s hope they pay off on the pitch. Securing a trophy or two will certainly lay the foundations for us to build a long-term plan that can bring sustained success.
