Chelsea are accelerating their pursuit of former Cobham sensation Michael Olise
Chelsea are set to make an improved offer and add another £9 million to activate the release clause of Crystal Palace star Michael Olise. This comes after the Blues made their first bid to sign the winger.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, (h/t Express) the Blues were prepared to pay Olise’s release clause of £35m following an unsuccessful first proposal worth £26m. Adding another £9m to trigger his release clause should force Palace’s hand in selling one of the league’s best youngsters. .
It is also understood Olise has agreed personal terms to join the West Londoners, as Manchester City also remain interested in signing attacking players to replace Riyad Mahrez.
The 21-year-old is believed to be seduced by Chelsea’s project, as the Blues are set to push for his signing. Mauricio Pochettino is also a fan of the Englishman and could help develop him into a reliable superstar.
However, Chelsea faces one issue with his acquisition if they are able to sign as he will miss the start of the season after tearing his hamstring on international duty. This more or less limits our options of deploying him as soon as possible.
Olise is a dynamic player who can also play as an attacking midfielder and on the right wing. This will give Chelsea options to either play him in midfield or behind the striker , something he can thrive on thanks to his versatility..
Given that Olise had a tremendous campaign at Crystal Palace and contributed 11 assists in 37 Premier League games for the Eagles, he is bound to improve our midfield. Capable of scoring and creating goals the 21-year-old certainly is the complete package.
