Cesare Casadei has successfully completed his season-long loan spell to Leicester City from Chelsea, and during an interview, he revealed former Italian U21 coach Enzo Maresca was a big reason for his move to the Foxes.
Although Casadei took part in Chelsea’s preseason matches, the team decided that loan to Leicester would aid his development. Working under Maresca will assist the youngster and help bring out the best in the Italian midfield sensation.
The 20-year-old was signed from Inter Milan before he was sent on a loan to Reading before returning to Chelsea for the pre-season games under Mauricio Pochettino. While he remains a top prospect, it makes little sense for us to have him warm the bench at Stamford Bridge.
He also had an impressive Under-20 World Cup, registering seven goals and winning the Player of the Tournament award, as well as ensuring he finished as the top scorer. The Italian midfielder had interest from a Serie A club but decided to play under manager Maresca, and he claimed he helped make an easy decision to join the Foxes, (h/t Daily Mail) as he said:
‘He (Maresca) had a big impact on my decision to be here, and I can’t wait to start improving with him and start playing. Of course, I saw the last two games in the championship, and I had a really good impression because they played really good football and they enjoyed their football when they had the ball.”
Casadei is going to benefit significantly from this transfer as he will be paired with an Italian manager, which will improve understanding and facilitate smooth communication. The former Manchester City assistant manager’s expectations will be known to Casadei, who may even assist in the player’s growth into a mature midfielder.
The Midfielder can also play a key role in steering Leicester back to the Premier League. This will certainly aid his cause and also enhance his reputation as one of the best upcoming midfield stars in the game today.
Casadei has already a proven talented midfielder as we witnessed his performance in U20 World Cup. A spell with Leicester he might earn sufficient credentials to return to Chelsea the following year and break into Pochettino’s first team.
