Carney Chukwuemeka talked about the “vibes” in the squad and how good new Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo is
Speaking to the club media house, Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka reveals the positive mood in the squad and praises the qualities of new teammate Moises Caicedo.
Despite Liverpool’s late attempt to sign Caicedo, Chelsea eventually signed the 21-year-old from Brighton for a British record transfer fee of £115m.
The Ecuadorian was followed by the addition of Belgian international Romeo Lavia to immediately raise the levels of Chelsea’s midfield. The two new signings along with Enzo Fernandez make the Blues very strong in this department.
Here’s what Chukwuemeka about the upbeat mood in the camp and Caicedo’s qualities (h/t Chelsea website):
“The vibes within the squad now are unimaginable.
“You can’t name one person that doesn’t fit in with everyone. Everyone is together, we bounce off each other on and off the pitch. That helps because building a relationship with each other off the pitch is only going to make us closer and better and help build more chemistry on the pitch.
“Moises can bring strength and power out of possession. Technically he is amazing on the ball. He can bring a lot of control to our midfield. He can help in and out of possession, box to box, full of energy, so it’s a top signing for us.”
With Christopher Nkunku out until December due to a knee injury, Chukwuemeka would be key in Chelsea’s fortunes for the first half of this season. The former Aston Villa player can play in that Nkunku position behind the striker and create chances for the forwards.
With no European football distraction this year, Mauricio Pochettino’s men must target winning the Premier League. They have the squad now along with adequate rest time between the domestic games to be at their best.
Given the money the club have spent this summer and in the recent past, a title challenge under an elite manager like Pochettino is a must. The likes of Caicedo, Enzo, Lavia and Chukwuemeka are young midfielders with unbelievably high ceiling.
The Blues can still add a couple of more players to the squad to make it complete. But, even if they fail to do that, the players should back themselves to dominate every game and win most of them.

Lastly, it is no surprise that Chukwuemeka is impressed by what he saw from Caicedo. The latter is just an exquisite player who will make sure the £115m spent isn’t weighing heavy on the club’s shoulders.
