Romano reveals that Chelsea are hoping to find a solution to get the Moises Caicedo transfer done soon
As per a tweet from transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea will hold direct talks next week and hope to find a solution regarding the Moises Caicedo transfer soon.
It is also revealed that personal terms are not an issue as Caicedo has already said yes to the idea of him joining the Blues this summer. The club will be in talks with Brighton and Hove Albion with the negotiations still ongoing.
A few days ago, the Evening Standard updated us with the news that the Seagulls would demand something in the region of £80m to sell the Ecuador international. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will accept that valuation or try to negotiate it down a notch.
This saga has dragged on for quite a while now. One can guess that the Blues were waiting for some of the player sales to happen before intensifying the Caicedo talks.
Now that the club has recouped some money from the outgoing business, they can make their mind up on what is the right price to pay to sign the 21-year-old.
One thing is for sure that Caicedo’s addition to the current Chelsea squad would be a massive thing. He is such a good midfielder who can do it all on and off the ball. In the latter stages of last season, the Ecuadorian was asked to play at right-back and he even did well there.
His intensity-based game would marry up well with the technical qualities Enzo Fernandez brings to the midfield. That South American midfield partnership could make Chelsea a tough side to beat.

The hope is that the solution to the deal is found soon before Brighton walk away from the deal and look for other buyers. After the departures of Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante within the space of a few months, we need to properly rebuild our midfield with young but quality players. Caicedo fits the bill perfectly.
