Moises Caicedo set to make Brighton request to enable Chelsea transfer

Moises Caicedo and his agents will ask Brighton & Hove Albion to decrease their asking price

Moises Caicedo and his representative are set to meet Brighton & Hove Albion and will ask them to lower his £100 million valuation after the Seagulls rejected Chelsea’s four bids.

According to The Times, (h/t Football.London) the 21-year-old is keen on joining Chelsea, and in order to swiftly complete the move, he will ask the Seagulls to alter his valuation along with his representatives.

Brighton have rejected Chelsea’s £80 million offer for the Ecuadorian midfielder, but both clubs remain in talks and the player is now growing frustrated due to slow progress in negotiations.

Caicedo has already given the green light to move to Chelsea during the interview, but the main obstacle has been Brighton, who are hesitant to decrease his price.

Chelsea are currently in the USA as they are playing their pre-season games under new manager Mauricio Pochettino. The club will open their 2023–24 season against Liverpool on August 13.

Though Chelsea are confident that they can sign the young player, it is unsure how long the discussions will persist, as the talks can drag on until deadline day. Ideally, Poch would want the Ecuador international in his XI for the game against the Reds.

Given the extent to which he wants to leave, Caicedo is now advocating for a transfer. He would be an ideal defensive midfielder who is able to immediately enhance that area.

We must act quickly to sign him, and we can only hope that Caicedo will put pressure on Brighton to follow suit. The Seagulls’ asking price is too much for a player with just one season of regular Premier League football behind him.

It is investing too much faith and money in one player and the price tag would be an added burden on his shoulders at Stamford Bridge too. But before we can worry about how he does here, we have to make sure we get him here first. There are hardly any better options in defensive midfield than Caidedo.
