Mauricio Pochettino urges Chelsea to sign AS Roma star Paulo Dybala
New Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen to add Paulo Dybala to his Blues squad for next season. The 29-year-old could be signed for a cut-price deal this summer.
According to the journalist Pedro Almeida, (h/t Express) Chelsea have held discussions with Dybala’s agents as they prepare to land the 2022 World Cup winner on the cheap. A versatile attacker, the Argentine is a proven star at the top level.
The former Juventus player joined Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma last season and enjoyed an impressive season. He registered 18 goals in all competitions as Roma reached the UEFA Europa League before losing to Sevilla on penalties. He was also part of the Argentina side that won the FIFA World Cup last year.
The Argentine has been linked with a move away from Roma, and given that Chelsea will have to trigger his £10.6 million release clause, his signing would totally be a bargain for the Blues. Landing a player of Dybala’s quality for the aforementioned price is daylight robbery.
The former Paris Saint-Germain boss is an admirer of the 29-year-old, as he earlier tried to sign the Argentine player when he was at Tottenham Hotspur. Hopefully, destiny will be kinder to him this time around.
Given that Dybala is now available at such a low fee, Pochettino might finally get his man. He is certainly an upgrade over Kai Havertz and ill add much to the Blues frontline.
Dybala would be a terrific acquisition because he has a ton of experience and is ready to make a difference for us from the get-go. A player who is largely unfazed by the big occasion, his experience could prove invaluable for us. Whether that comes to pass remains to be seen.

Chelsea need some inspiration in attack and could do with a few experienced additions. While we do have talented young players, there is no reason why Dybala could teach them a thing or two.
