“Delicate situation”- Mauricio Pochettino gives coy reply on PSG star’s transfer links to Chelsea

Mauricio Pochettino feels PSG need to solve issues with Chelsea target Kylian Mbappe

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino gave a cryptic reply when asked about Kthe Kylian Mbappe transfer speculations and said that his former club PSG should sort out those issues internally with him.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Chelsea, as per the reports, and Paris Saint-Germain are open to selling the France international as they fear losing him for free in 2024. This was after he informed the club he wouldn’t renew his contract beyond 2024.

This has seen the Ligue 1 club withdraw the player from their Japan pre-season tour, and they have also received many offers, one of which was a record bid from Saudi club Al-Hilal. Surely, it is an amount that we just cannot compete against.

The 2018 World Cup winner has been linked with a move to Real Madrid but they are yet to make an offer for the 24-year-old, the forward has also expressed his desire to join the Spanish club. However, there is much work to be done on all fronts if the move is to be realised.

Mbappe’s former manager, Pochettino, has given his verdict on the former AS Monaco forward and claimed that when asked about the Frenchman joining Chelsea, (h/t Football.London) he said:

“I think in our past, we were at Paris Saint-Germain and with Kylian, and I think I need to be conscious that I cannot talk. Everything you say is too much noise. It is a very delicate situation that they need to fix in Paris with Kylian.”

Talking about a player who is not a member of our team or who we should not be discussing makes no sense. Mbappe has worked with Pochettino, and during that time the Frenchman shone, scoring 67 goals in 75 appearances. Although the Argentine manager is at Chelsea, he has his own projects to work on as the team gears up for the upcoming season.

If Mbappe had shown any interest in joining us, Chelsea might have made a bid. But now, the finances alone made a potential move untenable and will jeopardise our ability to strengthen other areas of the squad. We are better off without Mbappe, regardless of the undoubted quality he possesses.
