Leeds United are interested in signing Chelsea centre-back Ethan Ampadu
According to Evening Standard, Chelsea have accepted a £7million offer from Leeds United for centre-back Ethan Ampadu, who was expected to fly with the club for the USA pre-season game.
But he could now stay behind and might make a move to Championship side Leeds. The 22-year-old also garnered interest from the Premier League, Italy, and Spain, but only Leeds’ bid has come so far.
He also had Watford on his trail but he has now seemingly edged closer to a move to Elland Road. Ampadu only has one year on his contract at Stamford Bridge, and the West Londoners have apparently taken the call to cash in on him.
There are other youngsters who could also not be part of the pre-season tour to the USA, as Omari Hutchinson and Harvey Vale are also going to remain and could be loaned to interested clubs.
Callum Hudson-Odoi is also among those who might be sold permanently after the youngster endured a poor loan season at German club Bayern Leverkusen.
Prior to the upcoming season, the Blues have managed to trim down their overstuffed team slightly, but it appears that there are still a few players who could be traded. If they aren’t part of the first-team plans, then it only makes sense to let them go.
Ampadu has now been shown the exit gate after Chelsea received an offer from Leeds for the defender — a player who is keen on playing more regularly next season. The 22-year-old’s versatility is something that could attract clubs to sign him. He can play in defence as well as in central and defensive midfield.

Moreover, he is still at an age where he can learn and get better. He is just 22 and has plenty of playing career ahead of him, and if not Chelsea, he could establish himself as a prominent player for another respectable European club. He showed great promise in the past but it seems that time has come where he could be deemed expendable.
