£63m striker prefers PSG move despite Chelsea interest

Dusan Vlahovic is preferring a move to PSG over Chelsea from Juventus

As per Italian outlet Alfredo Pedulla (h/t Metro), Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic is preferring a move to French champions PSG over Chelsea this summer.

It is revealed that the Blues have made an approach to sign the Serbian international as they seek to fill the number nine slot in the squad. Juve are demanding something in the region of £63m for this sale.

With PSG now joining the race, the 23-year-old is waiting on them to make the first offer to the Old Lady. The latter have ruled out any potential move that involves a loan deal at first.

If money and the Champions League are the attraction for Vlahovic, the French giants could win this transfer race without much competition from Chelsea. The Blues are not short on money and we know that, but the lack of any sort of European football may hurt.

We need Vlahovic’s experience

They are right now busy trying to sell Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan on their financial terms. It remains to be seen if even that comes off in the coming days.

Chelsea have signed Nicolas Jackson in an attempt to fill the gap in the centre-forward department. As of now, Mauricio Pochettino has Jackson, Armando Broja and Christopher Nkunku as options to play as a number nine next season.

Two out of the three are young and inexperienced players while Nkunku is at his best when playing as a support striker behind a ruthless number nine. It won’t harm us to get in a seasoned striker like Vlahovic, who is young enough to still learn and get better with time.

If getting Vlahovic is out of the equation due to PSG’s indulgence, Chelsea need to find a backup solution very soon. They cannot go into a season with the striking options mentioned above. That combination won’t bring back to challenging for a finish in the top four.
