Chelsea reject European giants’ loan offer for Romelu Lukaku

Juventus loan offer for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku rejected

Chelsea have rejected an offer from Juventus to take Romelu Lukaku on loan in the ongoing transfer window, according to TuttoSport via Football Italia (h/t football.london).

The Old Lady have set their sights on the Belgium international this summer and want to acquire his services. To that end, the Bianconeri have proposed taking the striker on a temporary move to Turin.

However, the Blues have no intention of letting the 30-year-old leave on loan once again. While the Serie A giants were willing to include an option to buy him in the deal, the Stamford Bridge side are looking for a permanent settlement.

Chelsea want £34 million for Lukaku in the coming weeks. However, both the Belgian and Juventus are willing to bide their time until the end of the transfer window to force the West London club’s hand.

We signed the striker for £97.5 million from Inter Milan in the summer of 2021. Unfortunately, the 30-year-old has been unable to live up to the expectations at the Stamford Bridge side.

In the 2021/22 season, Lukaku was unable to make a big enough impact at Chelsea. He made 44 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring 15 goals and providing two assists.

Subsequently, the Belgian rejoined Inter on a temporary move last summer. The striker was unable to replicate the form he showed in the first spell at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium side. Now, the 30-year-old is back at the Stamford Bridge side.

We have added Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson to our attacking line this summer. The two have done well during pre-season. Armando Broja is also at Mauricio Pochettino’s disposal.

Lukaku seems to be surplus to requirements at Chelsea. However, sending him out on another loan move does not make sense for us. Will the Blues be able to find a potential suitor for the Belgia in the coming weeks? Only time will tell.
