Chelsea are making Juventus furious by driving the price of Romelu Lukaku through Inter Milan
As per Italian outlet Tuttosport (h/t Mirror), Juventus are furious that Chelsea are using Inter Milan to drive the price of Romelu Lukaku before a sale is made this summer.
The Belgian international is more or less confirmed to leave the Blues this transfer window. He was on loan at Inter last time out and had another decent season there after a slow start pre-World Cup.
Nerazzurri are interested in signing Lukaku on a permanent deal as well. Juventus, on the other hand, are talking about this move to test the waters. Chelsea are demanding €45m for the striker.
The Old Lady are furious that Chelsea told Inter of their interest in the player to drive his price up. The latter is poised to make a bid for the former Everton marksman once their sale of Andre Onana to Manchester United happens.
Lukaku, previously, has made it clear that he won’t join the Turin-based club because of his allegiance with Inter. But, we have seen players change their minds when a favourable offer comes. So, let’s not hedge our bets on him not joining Juve at all.
Let’s see where the future of the 30-year-old lies. It is definitely not at Stamford Bridge by the look of things. Although Juventus might be furious, Chelsea have the right to do whatever it takes (legally) to ramp up the player’s price.
After all, football is a business where money talks a lot. If the Blues get a bit more than the market value for Lukaku, they can use that to make key signings of their own in this window.
