Inter Milan do not want to pay more than €30 million for Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku
Serie A giants Inter Milan do not want to pay more than €30 million to Chelsea to acquire the services of Romelu Lukaku this summer, according to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Nerazzurri have held talks with the Belgium international’s agent as an intermediary. To that end, they have informed him of their intention to acquire the striker’s services on a permanent basis.
As things stand, the Blues do not want to accept a loan proposal for the 30-year-old. However, the Serie A giants are looking to make a seemingly low-ball offer for the forward, although it is expected to include considerable bonuses.
Al Hilal were also interested in Lukaku in the ongoing transfer window and had offered Chelsea €50 million. But the Belgian was not too keen on moving to Saudi Arabia.
What should Chelsea do?
Inter are expected to complete the striker’s signing by next week. To that end, they will add to their already existing attacking line that includes Lautaro Martinez and new signing Marcus Thuram.
Lukaku came back to Chelsea in the summer of 2021 from the Nerazzurri for £97.5 million. Unfortunately, the Belgian struggled at the West London club and we ended up loaning him back to the Italian outfit.
Now, we could potentially take a big hit on the 29-year-old. At the moment, Mauricio Pochettino still does not have a quality number nine in his ranks. Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson’s singing will certainly help, though. But while Jackson isn’t proven at the very top level, Nkunku isn’t a natural No. 9 by trade.
However, goalscoring was a big issue for us in the previous campaign. Our top goalscorer from last season, Kai Havertz, has been sold to Arsenal.

Therefore, it remains to be seen whether the Blues will accept the offer from Inter for Lukaku. Hopefully, the Stamford Bridge side will be able to negotiate a higher price for the Belgian and look to replace him in the team.
