Chelsea duo told to stay back from pre-season and sort out loan moves

Omari Hutchinson and Harvey Vale will not travel with Chelsea to USA as the duo hold transfer talks

Omari Hutchinson and Harvey Vale are set to remain in west London as they won’t fly with Chelsea to the USA for the pre-season tour after they held a discussion over respective loan moves.

According to The Athletic (Subscription Required) (h/t Express), the pair have been given options to remain at Chelsea or find a club for their loan moves for the 2023–24 season.

Both youngsters have been deemed top-tier Chelsea graduates, and the club feels they should be loaned to other clubs for better growth.

Chelsea youngster Omari Hutchinson won’t fly to USA as he might be loaned out.

Hutchinson made his senior debut in Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in January, while Harvey made two appearances on loan at Hull City in the Championship.

However, both are young, and the Blues already have enough players in that age bracket. So, Hutchinson and Harvey might see their game time limited for next season, which could impede their development.

Finding a season-long loan move to another club will be a wise decision to continue their nurturing into a top player. It seems they are also not in Mauricio Pochettino‘s immediate plans ahead of his first season at Stamford Bridge.

Both players are 19 years old and have the potential to progress swiftly into seasoned professionals if given enough playing time, but doing so at Chelsea and for the upcoming season may prove demanding. The club has spent a lot of money buying other young players who could be preferred over them, and they also have more experience than Hutchinson and Harvey.

Hutchinson could have to vie for playing time with Mykhaylo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, Raheem Sterling and Conor Gallagher. Vale is more of a central midfielder. Given our dearth of options in that area following a big summer exodus, he still hasn’t shown that he is ready to be a regular starter for us. Moises Caicedo’s potential arrival will also complicate things further for him.

A loan move to the Premier League will be fantastic for them since they will become acclimated to the intensity of the league and could also demonstrate their value by showing they can play for the Blues in the future. Let’s see how this pans out. We must at least ensure they go to clubs where they are guaranteed meaningful playing time.
