Chelsea set to make improved bid for top summer transfer target

Chelsea will table an improved offer for Moises Caicedo

Chelsea will make a third offer of £80 million plus add-ons for their primary target, Moises Caicedo after their second bid of £70 million was rejected by Brighton & Hove Albion. yesterday

According to the Daily Mail, (h/t Metro), the Blues won’t give up on Caicedo’s signing and are set to make a proposal of £80 million plus further bonuses. Hopefully this will be enough for the Seagulls to part with their star man.

Despite Brighton wanting £100 million for the Ecuadorian midfielder, Chelsea’s third offer with add-ons represents a significant investment and commitment for one of the Premier League’s top talents.

The 21-year-old is keen on joining the West Londoners and is waiting for the club to reach an agreement with Chelsea, which will allow the midfielder to join them for pre-season. The West Londoners have already sold plenty of first-team players, and before the new season begins, they will definitely need to replace them sooner rather than later.

The Blues have flown to the USA for their pre-season tour as Mauricio Pochettino prepares his team for next season. Given that our season opener against Liverpool is less than a month away, it makes sense to complete incoming deals as soon as possible.

However, once the Blues complete Caicedo’s signing, then we can focus on adding other midfielders to add depth to that area as the 21-year-old’s acquisition alone certainly won’t be enough. Replacing the trio of N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Mason Mount is no easy feat but adding Caicedo to the roster would be a good start.

Chelsea’s most recent bid should hopefully be sufficient to persuade Brighton to sell the midfielder. It is in our best interests to speed up talks lest other teams enter the fray. After all, it is not over until the fat lady sings.

The midfielder is keen on joining us and has already proven his worth. His addition will be an excellent acquisition and should form a strong partnership with Enzo Fernandez. We’re hoping to finish his deal this week since we also need to focus on other acquisitions for the upcoming season, including a striker and a backup custodian.
