Prolific Serie A striker ready for new challenge amidst Chelsea interest

Chelsea target Dusan Vlahovic is prepared to leave Juventus this summer

Chelsea target Dusan Vlahovic is looking to leave Juventus and could make his way to Chelsea should the Blues make the Italians an offer that they cannot refuse. The Serbian would be a solid addition to our toothless frontline.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, (h/t Express), the Serbian likes Chelsea but has yet to open talks with the West Londoners about a move. With the Bianconeri set for a rebuild, Vlahovic is keen to jump ship and resurrect his career elsewhere.

The Blues are looking to reinforce their number nine area as they are keen to add the former Fiorentina striker to their attacking lineup. While Vlahovic’s time at Juventus has been a mixed bag, there is little doubt that he remains a highly talented player with excellent potential.

Romelu Lukaku, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, David Datro-Fofana, Armando Broja, and new signing Nicolas Jackson currently form the strikers’ roster at Stamford Bridge. However, Lukaku and Aubameyang could leave the club if the right opportunity arrives, while Fofana is closing in on a loan to Union Berlin.

This will certainly make room for the 23-year-old striker, who has more experience than Broja and Jackson. It is also understood that the Blues are ready to ‘lunge’ for Vlahovic. Mauricio Pochettino has previously shown he can elevate a striker’s standing and Vlahovic could benefit from his guidance.

The Blues endured a dry spell in front of goal last season, failing to score goals, which was one of the primary reasons for their defeats as they finished the season in 12th place. Pochettino will find life easier at the Bridge should he be handed an infallible goalscorer.

Vlahovic could be an ideal addition, but his inability to perform to expectations during his first season at Juventus can raise questions about his ability to succeed in the Premier League. However, one can argue that the 23-year-old is a better-rounded player than any other on our roster and would be an upgrade on what we have.

Compared to other young attackers we now have, he has more experience. Under Pochettino, who has assisted Harry Kane in establishing himself as one of the top attackers in Europe, the 23-year-old will undoubtedly continue to develop his superb goal-scoring abilities. Surely, it is a win-win for both parties.
