A View From The Bridge

Chelsea ready to sell attacker to AC Milan for €25m

Chelsea put a price of €25m on AC Milan target Christian Pulisic

According to the reliable Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Premier League giants Chelsea are ready to sell winger Christian Pulisic to AC Milan for a fee of at least €25 million.

The USMNT ace is an electric winger who is a difficult man to keep down when in full flow. However, injuries have largely dictated his availability at Stamford Bridge, nullifying his impact on the field on a consistent basis.

Since arriving at the club in 2019, Pulisic has made 145 appearances in Blue, scoring 26 goals and assisting 21 more across all competitions. During this same time, he has missed 55 games due to various injuries. Despite his unquestionable ability, Pulisic will remain a liability in west London as long as he stays unfit.

The 2022/23 season also saw the American ace fall down the pecking order. Despite playing under three different managers throughout the season, Pulisic failed to garner himself a starting spot. Now with the club cutting its losses on out-of-favour players, the 24-year-old could be on his way to Italy.

AC Milan are also going through a revamp following a turbulent title defence in 2022/23. A winger capable of playing anywhere along the frontline, Pulisic should help take the heat off Rafael Leao. The Portuguese ace is the Rossonerri’s bonafide attacking ace but Alexis Saelemaekers and Junior Messias have largely struggled on the right wing. Signing Pulisic will certainly be a shot in the arm for Stefano Pioli and Co.

Chelsea are not averse to a sale but are demanding €25m for the player. Milan, for their part, are keen to drive the price down. Something has got to give and it remains to be seen who blinks first. Pulisic is keen to make the move to Italy and resurrect his stagnating career. Hopefully, an amicable decision can be found soon, helping all the parties in the equation.

Pulisic’s performances for the USMNT often showcase his prodigious talents that have gone missing at Chelsea. Moving to Italy will give him the space and opportunity to rekindle what should be a special career. While his time at Stamford Bridge might not have worked out as expected, there is no reason why at 24, he cannot begin afresh in Italy.

Chelsea and Milan have done regular business with each other of late. A move to the San Siro will see Pulisic link up with former Blues Olivier Giroud, Fikayo Tomori, and more recently, Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
