Chelsea leave out Hakim Ziyech, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang or Romelu Lukaku from their 29-man squad for the USA tour
According to The Mirror, Chelsea have omitted Hakim Ziyech, Pierre-Emerick-Aubameyang, or Romelu Lukaku from their 29-man squad tfor the pre-season trip to the USA this summer.
Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed the 29-man squad that has flown to the USA with him, including the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Andrey Santos, Nicolas Jackson, and Malo Gusto. The quarter will now have the opportunity to stake a claim for a first XI spot.
Raheem Sterling, Conor Gallagher, Mykhaylo Mudryk, and Thiago Silva have also taken the flight to the USA, while Wesley Fofana is set to remain at Cobham due to a knee problem. Hopefully, the Frenchman will recover in time for the season opener against Liverpool.
However, there are still a few players who could leave the club in the current window. Ziyech, Aubameyang, and Lukaku are all hoping to depart the club before the season begins.
Ziyech has been the subject of a move to Al-Nassr, while the Belgian forward wants to return to Serie A, and the Gabonese striker is also hoping to find a new club. He is currently in talks with Olympique Marseille and hopefully, the move is just a matter of time.
After pre-season games, the Blues will start their new campaign against a tough side as they face Liverpool on August 13. The Argentine manager will hope that Chelsea will be able to improve certain areas, as the club is in the market for a midfielder and a striker.
The departure of Aubameyang, Lukaku, and Ziyech will further generate more income, as all three seem to be surplus to requirements. It will be better to offload them and re-invest the money back into the squad.
