Chelsea are not interested in signing Manchester United defender Harry Maguire
As per the Guardian, Chelsea have no interest in signing out-of-favour Manchester United defender Harry Maguire during this summer window.
This is contrary to a report in Sky Sports that revealed that the Blues could enter the race to sign the England international along with West Ham United.
Maguire recently shared through a social media post that he is no longer the captain of Manchester United. That was on expected lines because he is a fringe player at best under Erik ten Hag.
Going back to the original report of the Guardian, Chelsea are weighing up a move for Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace. So, it seems like if the club will make a move for a defender, it would be Guehi and not Maguire.
We have seen the Wesley Fofana ACL injury news. The Frenchman is expected to be out for the majority of the coming season. Will that absence force Mauricio Pochettino to buy a centre-back?
That injury could be one of the main reasons why Chelsea are now reluctant to sell Trevoh Chalobah. The 24-year-old was on the sale list until a few days ago.
Amidst all that, it is a relief that the Blues are not in the race for Maguire. No disrespect to the player, but he is not suited to playing in a high-line defence.
He would be better off playing for a mid-table Premier League side that depends on defending deep to keen clean sheets and hitting the opposition on the counter-attack.

If Chelsea want to sign a centre-back, someone like Guehi would be a better fit. The Palace defender was an Academy product here before moving to South London as well. So, he knows a thing or two about the club.
