Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile is ahead of schedule in his recovery from hamstring injury
As per a tweet from Chelsea Dodgers, via Di Marzio journalist Nathan Gissing, Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile is recovering faster than expected from the hamstring injury he picked up late last season.
The Frenchman is ahead of schedule and should return for individual training next week. Keeping that in mind, we can expect him to join team training by the second week of August.
What that might mean is that the former Monaco star may have a separate pre-season and would start the actual season later than others. That brings up a different set of challenges but it is good to know that he is ahead of schedule and could spend a week training with the team before they start the season.
Since joining the club in January, Badiashile played a handful of games and was starting to look comfortable in his position before the injury set him back.
The 22-year-old is a quality left-footed centre-back who can operate as a left-back too. Chelsea have a player similar in profile in the squad at the moment – Levi Colwill.
In the former’s absence, we can expect the latter to start the season for the Blues. If at all the club need any more reason to keep hold of the Englishman amidst doubts about his future at Stamford Bridge.
Coming back to Badiashile, let’s hope the Frenchman’s early return is not delayed and he starts individual training by next week. Regardless of what happens with Colwill, the 22-year-old is an important player for Chelsea moving forward.

It won’t be a surprise if Mauricio Pochettino field a centre-back partnership of Badiashile and Colwill in some of the games next season. A lot of things have to go right for it to happen though.
