Romano says Chelsea could loan out latest €15m signing to sister club

Chelsea could loan out Angelo Gabriel immediately to Ligue 1

Chelsea have apparently signed Angelo Gabriel from Santos on a permanent deal for a fee of €15million.

Fabrizio Romano details the signing in one of his latest tweets. He says that the player will travel with the Blues for the pre-season tour of the USA and that he has signed a long-term deal at the club.

But he also adds that loaning him out this summer could be an option. Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg have been mentioned as a potential suitor.

In an astonishing piece of statistic given by Transfermarkt, the player has already made 129 senior appearances for Santos’ senior team. He has scored five goals and provided 10 assists during that time.

Loan a good option

The Brazilian winger is certainly one to watch out for, given the fees we have paid for him at his young age and how highly he has been rated by the Brazilian giants so far.

Chelsea, meanwhile, completed a full takeover of the Ligue 1 club last month. And Strasbourg president Marc Keller confirmed later on that they will be the Blues’ sister clubs; although he did ensure that the club’s own interests will always be put first.

The 18-year-old could hone his skills in a competitive French league where the club he would play for would have active communication with the Blues. It makes loaning players to them convenient, but it, by no means, guarantees that they will get adequate playing time.

Gabriel would, however, get more minutes for Strasbourg than he would at Chelsea for now. That’s pretty obvious. He is further behind the likes of Mykhaylo Mudryk and Noni Madueke when it comes to the development curve, so a spell out on loan would do him no harm if he gets respectable first-team minutes.
