Report: Chelsea boss excited to work one-on-one with expensive January signing

Mauricio Pochettino wants to help Mykhaylo Mudryk reach his ceiling at Chelsea

Mauricio Pochettino is looking forward to working with Mykhaylo Mudryk and aiding him in realising his potential at Chelsea following the player’s disappointing season at the club.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, (h/t Express), the Argentine manager wants to work one-on-one with Mykhaylo Mudryk to help him find his groove in West London.

It is also understood that the former Paris Saint-Germain manager will help the 22-year-old be more vocal and culture-oriented at the club. It is believed that another poor season could see the player be loaned out or sold to another club permanently.

Pochettino will no doubt help the Ukrainian become a top player at Chelsea, as the 51-year-old is famous for maturing young players, and Mudryk has also exhibited glimpses of his talent, but he is still raw.

Considering the Argentine approach revolves around counter-attacking football, the former Shakhtar Donetsk player will benefit a lot from his system. Mudryk possesses excellent pace and is one of the most dangerous players when given space, which helps him evade defenders. But his key issue has been finishing and decision-making.

It should improve under Pochettino. The Argentine made Son Heung-min and Harry Kane into the beasts that they are, gradually and diligently working with them to improve different aspects of their game.

Mudryk is just 22, and there are hopes that he will be one of Chelsea’s best players in the coming years. With the right manager, players tend to evolve, and if Pochettino believes he can get the best out of the former Shakhtar player, then we can anticipate the best that is yet to come from Mudryk.

Since the Blues paid a significant amount of money (£88.5million) to get him to West London, he will have the extra spotlight. It is up to him to ignore such things and focus on what’s in front of him, taking each game one by one. Last season was so poor from the whole team that the expectations will be modest this season.
