Chelsea are closing in on personal agreement with Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus

Chelsea are close to agreeing personal terms with youngster Mohammed Kudus after the Blues reached out to Ajax in their interest in signing the midfielder.

According to Athletic, (h/t Metro) Chelsea are exploring options to sign the midfielder, and talks have already taken place between Chelsea and Kudus’ agent, who is prepared for the player to move to London.

The 22-year-old already has suitors, with Arsenal and Brighton & Hove Albion keen on signing the Ghanian midfielder, and the West Londoners are prepared to hijack the deal.

However, Chelsea are yet to submit an offer, but talks have taken place, and the Dutch club are demanding £40 million for the midfielder. Manchester United are also keeping tabs, as Erik ten Hag is willing to bring the player to Old Trafford from his former club in the Netherlands.

Chelsea have already offloaded a few midfielders, and there is enough room in the midfield to accommodate the 22-year-old. He could be an ideal replacement for Mason Mount, who joined Manchester United earlier this window.

Chelsea’s only first-team midfield options are Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher, while Cesare Casadei and Andrey Santos could be sent on loan to gain more experience. That decision will depend on Mauricio Pochettino after he assesses their performance in the pre-season tour.

Kudus was outstanding for Ajax last season, and at the age of 22, he demonstrated his inherent potential by playing in the majority of Ajax’s games. He made 30 appearances, recording 11 goals and four assists. His numbers alone are convincing that we should go for him.

He can also seamlessly transition between playing on the flanks and in an attacking midfield role. But there are differences between the Eredivisie and the English top division and it also depends on how quickly he adapts to playing in the Premier League.
