A View From The Bridge

Former Chelsea hero reveals no regrets following summer exit from Stamford Bridge

Arsenal star Kai Havertz reveals no regrets from his time at Chelsea

Former Chelsea star Kai Havertz made his first appearance for Arsenal in a friendly draw against Nurnberg, sporting the iconic red and white shirt. While his debut may not have lived up to expectations, the 24-year-old midfielder expressed his excitement about wearing the Gunners’ colours for the first time.

However, despite his new venture, Havertz maintains that he has no regrets about joining Chelsea three years ago. Having arrived at Stamford Bridge in a high-profile £65 million transfer, Havertz faced immense pressure to perform.

The young German international did have his fair share of ups and downs during his time with the Blues, but he achieved the ultimate success by helping his team clinch the UEFA Champions League title. Despite external criticism, Kai Havertz firmly believes that his three-year stay at Chelsea was far from a failure.

The sole goalscorer in the Champions League title win against Manchester City, there were times, especially under Thomas Tuchel when Havertz seemed to be showing glimpses of the player he was always reckoned to be. However, these performances were few and far and consistency was lacking.

According to The Metro, reflecting on his journey, Havertz acknowledged the challenges the club faced last season

“Of course, you know it was not the best season for Chelsea last year. I have to say I am always going to be thankful for the club, always going to be thankful for the fans as well.”

His gratitude towards the club and its supporters is evident, despite the occasional skepticism from external observers. Havertz emphasizes that his decision to join Chelsea three years ago was the right one, a move that he stands by without any reservations.

While the interest from other prominent clubs back in 2020 suggests the level of talent he possesses, Havertz believes he made the correct choice. Now, as Havertz embarks on a new chapter in his career with Arsenal, his focus is unwavering.

As Havertz steps onto the pitch wearing the iconic red and white, he understands that adapting to a new team’s style of play will take time. His underwhelming debut for Arsenal did not dampen his spirits, as he is aware that finding his rhythm and syncing with his new teammates will be a gradual process.

With his talent and dedication, it’s only a matter of time before Havertz finds his groove and showcases his true potential in an Arsenal shirt. It’s not a good reflection of Chelsea but it is also evidence of the potential we saw in him when we signed him all those years back. Let’s see how it goes.
