Southampton’s Romeo Lavia asked Eden Hazard for his experience at Chelsea
Romeo Lavia had spoken to Eden Hazard about his experience at Chelsea, and the former Real Madrid player advised him to join the Blues.
The Southampton midfielder, (h/t Express) who has emerged as the league’s best player this season, has drawn interest from a number of clubs, including Chelsea.
And since the Saints were relegated many clubs are keeping tabs on Lavia’s movement. Aside from Moises Caicedo, the Blues have been longtime supporters of the 19-year-old.
The youngster discussed a move to Stamford Bridge with the former Swansea manager during Graham Potter’s administration, and the Blues’ owners orally proposed the transaction, which the Saints refused.
Additionally, it emerged that Southampton turned down a £50 million proposal from Chelsea for the midfielder. Lavia’s career has been greatly influenced by Joe Shields, who is currently Chelsea’s director of recruitment and talent. Chelsea may bring the 19-year-old to West London.
Lavia has established himself this season and has participated in most of the games, although he was unable to assist the Saints in keeping their place in the English Premier League. In essence, that would favour us in his pursuit, given players of his ilk would want to play at the highest level.
We need a top midfielder in order to quickly adjust and balance the defensive midfield because N’Golo Kante is on the brink of leaving and Mateo Kovacic’s future is unresolved. Other young midfielders, like Carney Chukwuemeka, have also not received enough game time this season.
Additionally, Lavia appears to have sufficient experience playing in the English league. If we are successful in signing him he could be immediately inserted into the starting lineup as we won’t have a suitable defensive midfielder if N’Golo Kante leaves.

Hopefully, Hazard has told him about the good times that he had in west London, winning major trophies and creating irreplaceable memories. Chelsea fans have continued to show their love for Hazard even after his move to Real Madrid. Many regard him as a club legend. Hopefully, his compatriot Lavia wants to follow in his footsteps.
