Mason Mount is ready to report for the pre-season at Chelsea if his Manchester United move remains on hold
As per the Telegraph (subscription required), Chelsea star Mason Mount will report for the club pre-season under Mauricio Pochettino if his move to Manchester United remains on hold.
A couple of days ago, Chelsea rejected a third bid of £55m from United for the England international. The Blues are countering that offer by demanding a £58m+£7m transfer fee for this deal.
United have gotten frustrated in their pursuit and are starting to look at alternatives in the summer transfer window. If Mount, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires next summer, stays here when the pre-season starts, he will report for it.
Pochettino starts work next Monday and some of the players will return to training the following day. The new manager does not want want-away players to join the squad for the USA pre-season tour which starts on July 17.
Now, although Mount’s future is up in the air at the moment, the England international has reiterated his commitment to Pochettino for working hard in a Chelsea shirt unless a move takes place.
It is good to know that despite it being public that the 24-year-old wants to sign for United, he is committed to doing his best for Chelsea as long as he is here.
There is still some time for the USA tour to start though. A lot can happen in the transfer market until then. It would be great if Mount’s future is decided one way or the other in the next few days.
