Aliou Cissé feels Sadio Mane will remain at Bayern Munich amid Chelsea interest
Senegal manager Aliou Cissé has confirmed that Sadio Mane is likely to fulfil his contract and remain at Bayern Munich despite interest from Chelsea.
Bayern were earlier open to selling the former Liverpool forward after the Senegalese endured a poor season in the Bundesliga. The 31-year-old joined them from Liverpool after his glittering career at Anfield, but his time at Bayern may come to an end soon.
Chelsea (h/t Football.London) and other Premier League clubs have so far shown interest in signing the 31-year-old, but nothing has progressed so far.
However, the former Southampton forward was earlier questioned about his move to Newcastle United, and Mane gave a coy reply. Mane has been versatile in the forward line as he can play on the left side and as a striker.
But his future remains uncertain at the German side, although his national team manager Aliou Cisse revealed he will continue at Bayern, as he told 2stvsenegal, via journalist Fabrizio Romano:
“I haven’t heard about approaches from Saudi Arabia; what’s certain is that he stays at Bayern. He signed for three years. He spent one year and still has two. So yes, for now he stays at Bayern.”
Given that he has experience playing in the Premier League and is a dynamic player in an attacking role, Mane would be a smart choice for us. His expertise will help the young players realise their full potential. He served as one of the most valuable players for Liverpool and helped them win the Champions League and Premier League under Jurgen Klopp during his six-year stay on Merseyside.
But given that Chelsea are currently focused on offloading players and have only completed one signing—Nicolas Jackson—it seems that new arrivals at Stamford Bridge could take time.

It will be interesting to see if Chelsea, who have notably spent (and spent big) on youngsters under Todd Boehly, are still keen on Mane – a player in his 30s and possibly on the decline.
