Manchester City reach agreement with Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic
Premier League rivals Manchester City have reached an agreement with Chelsea star Mateo Kovacic over personal terms, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The Sky Blues were in advanced talks with the Croatia international last week. Now, the Cityzens have come to a consensus with the midfielder.
As things stand, the 29-year-old is keen on making the switch to Pep Guardiola’s team from the Stamford Bridge side. However, the Etihad Stadium side will have to discuss a fee with the Blues, which will happen after the Champions League final.

Kovacic has been at Chelsea since 2018, having joined from Real Madrid. After five years at the West London club, he looks set to depart, with the Blues open to parting ways with the midfielder.
City have an abundance of talent in their engine room. They have the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Rodri in their ranks. Ilkay Gundogan has also been inspirational at the Etihad Stadium side, but his contract is set to expire in the coming weeks (transfermarkt).
The Sky Blues have enjoyed a fruitful season so far. Guardiola’s team have won the Premier League title and the FA Cup. Now, the Cityzens will have the opportunity to complete an unprecedented treble when they face Inter Milan in the UCL.
As for Chelsea, we were underwhelming in the current campaign. The change in managers did not help us either. Also, the transfer strategy by the hierarchy has left a lot to be desired.
Kovacic has been one of our best players over the last few years. The Croatian transmits calmness in the middle of the park when he is on the ball. But it looks like we are about to lose the former Madrid midfielder.

Todd Boehly and Co. are seemingly making a mistake by letting the 29-year-old leave, especially to a direct rival like City. It will be interesting to see who the Blues will pursue this summer to replace him.
