Levi Colwill wants playing time guarantee from Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea otherwise he will leave the club

As per talkSport (h/t Metro), Levi Colwill will want playing time guarantees from Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea or else he will leave the club this summer.

Colwill, who spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion and did very well, was a subject interest for a permanent transfer by the Seagulls. A £30m offer was made but rejected by Chelsea as they think the defender will play a key part under new boss Pochettino.

The 20-year-old has also attracted interest from Liverpool and Manchester City. The former could do with a left-footed defender to bolster their back-line on that side of the field.

Such was Colwill’s impression that England boss Gareth Southgate was considering calling him up for the national team squad for the March international games. But, unfortunately, the defender got injured in January for a few weeks.

The youngster is a top player who can play as a centre-back and a left-back. He is comfortable on the ball, has a good recovery pace and is physically strong as well.

With that quality and age, Pochettino and Chelsea should guarantee him regular game time from the start of next season. Benoit Badiashile, a player similar in profile, is there in the squad, but the Frenchman is currently out due to a long-term injury and Pochettino can play both of them at a time too.

It is good to know that a young player is keen on getting playing time guarantees rather than focusing on representing the bigger club. He is at an age where playing more will only help in his development.

More Chelsea News:

Pochettino likes to work with top young players and develop them into superstars. Colwill has all the tools to become that under the Argentine. Let’s hope he stays at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer window.
