Leicester City keen to take promising Chelsea midfielder on a season-long loan

Leicester City are keen on signing Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei on loan

As per the Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio Leicester City wants Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei on loan this summer. The Italian prospect was bought by the Blues for £12 million from Inter Milan last summer. In his first season in England, Casadei initially played for the Blues reserve team and was later loaned to Championship side Reading.

Leicester, who were relegated last season to the Championship, have star midfielders such as James Maddison and Youri Tielemans to Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa (For Free) respectively. The new head coach of the Foxes, Enzo Maresca, has been pushing for Casadei’s signing as he plots to replace Maddison on the roster.

Casadei enjoyed an excellent U20 World Cup campaign where he led Italy to the final but lost to Uruguay in the showpiece event. However, he finished the competition as the top goalscorer and also won the Golden Ball award. Clearly, he stands out among his peers.

The arrival of Mauricio Pochettino will decide what lies ahead for Casadei next season. It would be too much of a stretch to expect him to be a regular starter off the bat and there is every chance to believe the Blues will want to loan him out. Whether a move to the Championship is the best foot forward is debatable.

At the U20 World Cup, the 20-year-old displayed his talent from the center of the field, but it’s unclear whether he’s really prepared to meet the expectations in a Chelsea shirt. It makes more sense for the Blues to send him out on loan to another Premier League or Serie A side.

Given that Burnley and Luton could use a player like this in their lineups for the upcoming season, it will be wiser for Chelsea to send him to a Premier League club where he can earn a decent amount of playing time. It will also help him ease into the demands of the English top flight, preparing him for a future starring role at Stamford Bridge.

It will benefit the midfielder in all respects for his development as a midfielder for Chelsea in the future if he joins either Burnley or Luton and competes for a less competitive team where regular playing time is easily available.

However, Pochettino will make the final choice if he believes he can help the youngster at Chelsea. For now, Casadei is not short of offers and one way or another, it apepars like he will be playing senior football next season.
