Pundit labels Todd Boehly a ‘disgrace’ for Mason Mount’s treatment at Chelsea

Talksport pundit Jamie O’Hara labels Todd Boehly a “disgrace” for his treatment of Mason Mount

Former Tottenham Hotspur player and Talksport pundit Jamie O’Hara has labelled Chelsea owner Todd Boehly a “disgrace” referring to the treatment of Mason Mount.

Manchester United have agreed personal terms with the England international to sign him in the summer transfer window. Liverpool and Arsenal were also interested but will miss out.

Mount’s current deal at Chelsea expires next year. He was at the club since his youth days, yet they did not see him good enough for a bumper new deal at the end of this season.

Todd Boehly labelled a “disgrace” for the treatment of Mason Mount at Chelsea.

Here’s what O’Hara says about this story (h/t Talksport Sports Bar, via Mirror):

“That for me is a disgrace, because what they’re doing is downgrading Mason Mount, who’s a top player, a home-grown player who has been at the club since [six] years of age and loves the football club.

“Because this Boehly’s come in and spent £600 million on bang average players, they’ve now got to balance the books and you’re downgrading for Mudryk, who has cost you £70million and has been garbage.”

While not offering one of your top players, who cost nothing in the transfer market, a new contract was baffling enough, selling him to a direct rival in the Premier League makes no sense.

Boehly and his team have made some weird decisions since last summer, and if this deal goes through, that’s another decision going down the drain.

Mount is a fantastic player who is close to reaching his peak. He was Chelsea’s best outfield player along with Thiago Silva in the past two seasons. Although he fell off this time around, almost everyone in the squad did the same thing.

The 24-year-old offers versatility, technical quality and a high level of work rate off the ball. There was a reason why former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel picked him in every important game. The player’s tactical understanding was very good.

He had that in him to become a Chelsea captain in the future and lead the team to greater success. It is a shame this has to be cut off in this manner. While it is not a proud moment to agree with what O’Hara is saying, he is right here.
