Inter Milan reject Chelsea’s bid for Andre Onana
Chelsea‘s offer for Andre Onana has been refused by Inter Milan, despite the Blues’ desire to sign the Cameroonian keeper for the upcoming season.
According to TuttoMercatoweb, (h/t Daily Mail), Inter turned down the Blues’ £40 million bid for the custodian. Given the uncertainty surrounding the future of their other goalkeepers, the Blues have expressed interest in signing Onana.
Additionally, it is believed that the 27-year-old has reached a personal agreement with Chelsea and wants to sign with a Premier League team.
The Serie A club will soon decide the future of the former Ajax goaltender, although it may happen after their Champions League final matchup against Manchester City.
West Londoners must sell either of their custodians before an agreement with Onana is reached, as they will also have to free up spaces to reduce the bloated squad.
Since Edouard Mendy’s contract with the Blues has not been renewed and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in signing him, he may soon find himself at Stamford Bridge’s departure gate. Onana has performed admirably this season, both in terms of helping Inter reach the Champions League and in his own right.
The club appears to be prioritising the signing of Onana, and his addition will alter the nature of our game in the upcoming season. Inter’s decision to reject Chelsea’s offer is understandable, but if the team offers more money, Inter might be persuaded to sell the player.

If a deal can be reached, however, it should be noted that the club would be wise to release either Kepa Arrizabalaga or Mendy to make way for Onana’s acquisition. Ideally, both should be shown the door because surely they would both be unhappy on the bench. But since Kepa has been accustomed to that role in recent seasons, perhaps we can convince him to keep him in that situation after Onana’s potential arrival.
