Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Moises Caicedo is only in talks to join Chelsea
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano via his Caught Offside column has revealed that Moises Caicedo is only negotiating with Chelsea after being close to agreeing to personal terms regarding a summer switch to Stamford Bridge.
Romano also reported that the Blues are currently busy offloading players and that Caicedo will have to be patient for the Blues to make their move.
The Blues look set to part with Kai Havertz to Arsenal while Hakim Ziyech, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Edouard Mendy are close to joining Saudi clubs. Mason Mount too could be on his way out with Manchester United failing with three bids so far.
Chelsea have already made their opening bid for the midfielder in the region of £60 million, but Brighton & Hove Albion rejected it as they want £80 million for the 21-year-old.
After N’Golo Kante left for Al-Ittihad, it is now believed that Chelsea will intensify negotiations in an attempt to sign the Ecuadorian midfielder.
The defensive midfielder can assist Enzo Fernandez in the center of the field, giving us a solid base to build on in the middle of the park. Speaking to CaughtOffside, Romano said:
“Once everything settles down [with outgoings], then Chelsea will work on the [Moises] Caicedo deal. There are no changes to previous updates. Chelsea want Caicedo; they’re going to push to sign him.”
“I can’t predict the future, but the player is only negotiating with Chelsea at this stage. Everything is calm with the Brighton player at the moment. No need for panic.”
In order to balance the books and meet the Financial Fair Play guidelines, Chelsea have been quite active in getting rid of players. Once the bloated squad is reduced, the Blues will hopefully begin to acquire new players.

The acquisition of Caicedo will be a game-changer for us. He has already demonstrated his skills and will significantly strengthen our midfield. What’s even more amazing is that he is only 21 years old and could form a long-term partnership with Fernandez, future-proofing our roster for years to come.
