Romelu Lukaku says he is not sure if he will return to Chelsea

Fabrizio Romano reports Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku is keen on playing in Europe despite Saudi links

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter has revealed that Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku has insisted on remaining in Europe amid interest from Saudi clubs.

The Belgian striker flew to Saudi Arabia to hold talks with Al-Hilal after the club offered him a £16 million deal to sign for them. However, unlike other Chelsea players also in the same boat, Lukaku is keen to remain put in Europe.

Other Blues players, such as Hakim Ziyech, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Eduardo Mendy, have been linked with moves to Saudi clubs.

However, Lukaku is keen on continuing in Europe and wants to remain at Inter Milan. Chelsea will be hoping to find a solution for his permanent sale to the Serie A club.

Chelsea and Inter also met in London to discuss the future of Lukaku, but the Blues don’t want to send the former Everton striker on another loan spell to Inter. The 29-year-old, who joined Chelsea in the 2021–22 season for a second spell and hasn’t quite found his rhythm.

At San Siro, the 29-year-old experienced fluctuating performances and also failed to win the Champions League as his team lost 1-0 to Manchester City on June 10 in Istanbul.

Lukaku is not keen on joining Saudi clubs, maybe because he knows he is still 29 years old and has many years left to play in Europe before he considers moving to a less competitive league.

His future at Chelsea is uncertain, but the former Manchester United striker has shown more inclination towards playing for Inter, so it doesn’t make sense to keep a player who is not interested in playing for us.

Hopefully, before the end of the summer window, Chelsea will find a solution for his future and consider selling him permanently. Then we can later think of getting rid of Aubameyang, who is open to leaving the Blues.
