Fabrizio Romano reveals Chelsea and Arsenal have the same interest in signing Moises Caicedo
According to Fabrizio Romano via CBS Sports, London giants Chelsea and Arsenal are highly interested in signing Moises Caicedo with the Blues ready to make fresh contacts.
Despite Arsenal’s priority to sign Declan Rice, the Gunners are also keeping an eye on Caicedo’s situation. It does not come as a surprise as they failed to sign the midfielder last January.
Regardless of the Ecuadorian extending his contract, the midfielder could still leave the club in the summer window. An energetic presence, he would be an excellent addition to England’s top sides.
Chelsea who pulled themselves out of the pursuit of Manuel Ugarte are now keeping a keen eye on the 21-year-old Brighton star. Due to the absence of a defensive midfielder caused by N’Golo Kante’s decision to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad, the Blues are now actively seeking a replacement.
Having lost Jorginho last January and likely to lose Mateo Kovacic this summer, a revamp of the midfield is a priority at Stamford Bridge. Speaking to CBS Sport on the Chelsea and Arsenal situation of Caicedo signing, the transfer journalist claimed:
“Chelsea and Arsenal share the same target in Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, but the Blues are expected to attack the situation soon with new, fresh contacts. Arsenal’s priority remains Declan Rice, as talks with West Ham will enter crucial stages very soon, and they are ahead of FC Bayern Munich in the race.”
Caicedo has proved his attributes against the best players and can only get better with time. More so, given his Premier League experience, it won’t take him enough time to settle in at Chelsea. With Kante joining Al-Ittihad, he should be our priority signing to pair with Enzo Fernandez in the center of the pitch.
However, it also depends on his decision, given that Arsenal are in great shape and ready to compete in the Champions League. But it was the same with Mykhaylo Mudryk until we hijacked their signing at the last moment. Hopefully lightning can strike twice.

Caicedo has demonstrated that he is a perfect midfielder for teams in the Premier League. If he joins a team like Chelsea that frequently participates for major trophies, he will only up his game and develop into a world-class star.
