Romano says Chelsea star will have AC Milan medical on Thursday

Romano says Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek will have AC Milan medical on Thursday

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Chelsea’s midfielder will be in Milan on Thursday (June 29) to complete his medical to join Serie A powerhouse AC Milan.

The Blues have agreed to sell the midfielder for €16 million plus €4 million in add-ons. Loftus-Cheek had already agreed personal terms to join the Rossoneri and was excited about their project.

The Serie A club that sold Sandro Tonali to Premier League club Newcastle United earmarked the Chelsea midfielder as the Italian’s replacement.

Now the Cobham Academy graduate is set to be reunited with his former teammates Fikayo Tomori and Oliver Giroud next season. Loftus-Cheek will become the fifth player to be sold alongside the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Mateo Kovacic, and N’Golo Kante, while Kai Havertz is on the verge of joining Arsenal.

Mauricio Pochettino is expected to start his reign soon and will need a midfielder who can make an impact. The Blues already have a quality midfielder in Enzo Fernandez and are now looking to sign Moises Caicedo, who can partner with the Argentine in the heart of midfield.

Mason Mount has been linked with a move to rival club Manchester United and his exit, coupled with RLC’s imminent move to AC Milan, could leave a big dent in our squad depth. The 27-year-old spent the majority of the season as a substitute, trying his hand at various midfield positions and even filling in at right back when Reece James was injured.

Loftus-Cheek can provide wonderful qualities as a midfielder and should be an ideal replacement for Tonali given his expertise and adaptability in the middle of the pitch. Just like his former teammates Giroud and Tomori did when they joined Milan, he could establish a reputation for himself in Italy.

He can have more playing time at a time which is considered European royalty — one that had stars like Clarence Seedorf, Andrea Pirlo and Kaka playing in their midfield. They will also allow RLC to play in the UEFA Champions League next season, which is something we can’t offer.

It probably is a very, very good move for the player and Chelsea fans would wish him nothing but the best.
