“I’m staying at Inter”: 27-year-old star hands major transfer blow to Chelsea

Denzel Dumfries claims he wants to remain at Inter Milan after Chelsea and Manchester United speculation

Denzel Dumfries has denied speculation of his leaving Inter Milan, claiming he is looking forward to playing for the Serie A giants next season.

Dumfries has been linked with a move to Chelsea and Manchester United after his performance, which has caught the attention of elite clubs. Erik Ten Hag would be hoping to add another right-back next season along with Aron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot.

Meanwhile, the Blues will have Malo Gusto and Reece James for the following campaign, and adding a third right-back doesn’t make sense as it will create more competition and provide needless selection headaches to the manager.

But the frequent injuries to James could put the club in a position to sign another right-back despite Gusto’s acquisition. The 27-year-old claimed he is already looking to prove himself following Inter’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League final last weekend.

This has put an end to any speculation of him joining Chelsea or United next season. (h/t Metro) He further added:

‘‘When we get back together, despite this defeat, we will be hungry for victory next season. What if I stay at Inter? Yes, at the moment I’m staying at Inter.’’

Given his great European playing experience and age, the Dutch right-back will be a spectacular addition, but right now the Blues already have two right-backs.

Chelsea have James and Gusto and we hope the England international has fully recovered because he was prone to injuries the previous year. It’s better we invest this money in positions that actually need upgrades.

More Chelsea News:

We should let Dumfries be Manchester United’s problem. They can use an upgrade on both Dalot and Wan-Bissaka, with both having weaknesses at one end of the pitch or the other. For Chelsea, the priority should be a No. 9 and a central midfielder. A new goalkeeper won’t hurt too.
