A View From The Bridge

23-year-old star wants Chelsea stay over joining Newcastle United

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher wants to stay at the club rather than moving to Newcastle United

According to Mirror (h/t Sunderland Echo), Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher hopes to stay at the club and fight for his place in the team instead of moving to Newcastle United this summer.

Gallagher wants to impress the new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino and hopes that he gets the chance to play regular football at Stamford Bridge.

A few days ago, Daily Mail revealed that Newcastle are interested in signing the England international as Eddie Howe prefers signing players with Premier League experience.

But, it seems as if the 23-year-old is adamant to do well in his current club. The all-action midfielder although made 45 appearances in all competitions, amassed just over 2000 minutes of playing time (Transfermarkt). So, he was more-or-less a backup option in central midfield for the three managers that took charge of the team this season.

The Chelsea Academy product, who had an exceptional loan spell at Crystal Palace during the 2021/22 season, is a versatile player who can play as one of the central midfielders or as an attacking midfielder.

He is still young and could only get better in the coming years. The good thing about him is that he always works hard on the field irrespective of the game situation.

Keeping the abovementioned report in mind, it shows that Gallagher is determined to do well for Chelsea. He has in him to catch the eye of Pochettino and start games regularly come the beginning of next season.

More Chelsea News:

Pochettino is a master at developing top young talents into elite players. Gallagher has the talent and determination to do well under the Argentine. It remains to be seen whether both things can merge and we can see a beautiful marriage of exceptional performances from the player in a Chelsea shirt.
