Chelsea target Neymar has offered himself to Barcelona and is prepared to accept meagre compensation in order to meet their salary ceiling.
According to Spanish outlet Sport, Neymar may go back to Camp Nou and is willing to take a pay cut to play for them. It comes after news that Lionel Messi chose to join Inter Miami over the Catalan giants.
The 31-year-old is thinking about leaving Paris Saint-Germain, and the Ligue 1 team is okay with selling the former Santos forward in order to cut down on his high salary.
The situation has gotten worse as a result of PSG fans‘ protest at Neymar’s home. Meanwhile, Chelsea have opened talks with PSG about the former Barcelona sensation.
Neymar was having a strong run with the Ligue 1 champions before suffering an ankle injury that kept him out for the entire season. He will have to give up a significant portion of his income to remain within Barcelona’s salary ceiling, which could be still difficult for the Catalan giants to sign him.
He is familiar with Barcelona because he spent four seasons playing there and won the Champions League with them. However, it will be up to them to decide whether to sign him.
And for us, it would be better to put more emphasis on developing young talent for the upcoming season rather than signing him.
Chelsea’s signing of Neymar won’t make sense because it could interfere with their rebuilding process given that the Brazilian is unreliable and frequently injured.
The Blues will only be wasting their money, even though he will undoubtedly add quality to the field. He has worked before with Mauricio Pochettino, so we can trust the Argentine manager to give his input to the board if they do pursue the Brazilian megastar.
But Poch would be wise enough to know not to spend money on a player in his 30s, injury prone, and possibly on the decline.
