Chelsea are believed to be open to letting Christian Pulisic leave this summer, with AC Milan keeping tabs on him.
This is according to journalist Matteo Moretto (h/t Fabrizio Romano on Twitter), who claims that I Rossoneri could be a potential destination for the USMNT star. Pulisic has had a tough time at Chelsea.
He hasn’t shown the consistency or the development one would have expected when he arrived from Borussia Dortmund. He has failed to make himself a consistent starter under multiple managers.
It is important for young players to continue developing and improving themselves in key areas. Otherwise, they can fade into the background and stagnate in their careers.
Something similar seems to be happening with Christian Pulisic. His abilities and raw talent were brilliant to watch when he was a teenager.
But that can’t cut it anymore considering he is reaching his prime years. Pulisic can still work on his passes and crosses from the flank, and contributing off the ball when his team are on the backfoot.
AC Milan could honestly be a great team for him to get his career back on track. They will play in the UEFA Champions League next season and could offer him a regular first-team spot in what will be a different league for Pulisic to try himself out in.
Let’s see what comes of this. His contract expires in June 2024 (Transfermarkt) so it is imperative we take a decision on him this summer. Either we let him leave and rake in a good transfer fee, or we bet on him and hope a string of good performances earns him a new deal. The latter is unlikely and risky.
