Chelsea star Reece James has provided a hilarious response on Twitter to a fan who wanted the Blues star at Arsenal.
Crossing the divide between west London and north London has almost never gone down well with fans. It was done as recently as January, when Jorginho left the Blues for Arsenal.
Fans were still able to digest that move because the Italy international was in his 30s and was visibly getting slow (if he could get any slower) on the pitch. But Kai Havertz’s move to Arsenal really stung.
That is a player reaching the prime years of his career. Mikel Arteta is no fool to be spending around £65million to sign him and there is a good chance he succeeds at Arsenal.
Havertz and Jorginho are still foreign players. It was odd, however, that both the players and Chelsea though it was okay to join a direct rival in the Gunners. It would be a nightmare to imagine a scenario where a youth product like James is allowed to join the Emirates outfit.
If it were up to the right-back, that is a move which will not happen. An Arsenal fan on Twitter posted a photo of James and captioned his tweet “Reece James to arsenal who says no”.
The 23-year-old succinctly replied “I say no”.
This could be an unintentional dig towards his two former teammates that have joined Arsenal this very year. But let’s not read too much into that.
Reece is a blue and there is nothing that can change that, at least for now. Arsenal can only dream of signing a right-back like him. His contract expires in June 2028 (Transfermarkt), so good luck getting him off our books.
